I retired from Children's National Medical Center after thirty five years as a pediatric RN. I was a member of a medical mission to the Dominican Republic for 9 years providing eye care and corrective surgery for children and adults.. My husband and I have just returned from a trip around the world visiting Tahiti, New Zealand, Timor Leste and Quatar.
I have always been interested in different cultures and clothing expression. I became interested in Weaving while in college and have a 200 year old loom in my home.
I have always enjoyed Fiber Arts which have included weaving, stitchery and felting. I use merino wool from a farm in Pennsylvania and Viscose from a fiber artist in the U.K. for my felting. My felt pieces are embellished with stitchery and knots.
Since our move to West Virginia and after taking an Encaustic Painting course in Portland Maine, I have discovered a new medium. It involves painting with pigmented bee's wax.
